What exactly does a Foot Health Practitioner do?

To make it clear Andrew our Foot Health Practitioner is not a podiatrist.
A foot health practitioner has 2 years training, whereas a podiatrist has 3 years and the extra year includes a placement in a hospital with surgical procedures eg ulcers, packing wounds and gait analysis.
Andrew is able to:
– nail cutting, including advice and treatment of ingrown nails
– removal of corns, calluses and hard skin
– fungal and thickened nails treated
– Verrucae advice and treatment (not freezing)
– Diabetic and high risk foot care assessment

Tesco Collection

Thank you for giving up your time to collect at Tesco Didcot on 20th December.
The total raised was £449.24 which is fantastic!!
I know most of you have collected throughout the year and the total raised from supermarket collections in 2013 was £1905.24.
Thank you very much, there will be more in 2014!!!!

Gym Update

We now have balance-trainer and motomed in place.
Training for both pieces of equipment will be finished this Friday 17th.  Walls bars will be up soon in Physio room.  We have also purchased therabands and a physio ball. We are fortunate that a laptop has been donated for therapists use.
Members will book an appointment with Tricia (Friday) or David (Mon or Weds) for an induction of the equipment and setting of a programme (book a normal appointment slot/time).  When you are confident and you can use the equipment and follow your programme, you can then use but only if another therapist/sue/volunteer is in the centre (H&S).
There will be an induction fee (to be agreed), gym sessions will be free for now (but a nominal charge will be introduced later to cover maintenance of equipment/additional insurance).  Induction slots will be available before the end of the month.
